New Smyrna Beach
About & FAQ
A small shop on the barrier island. We rent boards, teach the first pop-up, and tell you the truth about the wind.

Reid Calder
Reid grew up on the island and learned in the inlet wash, where the Atlantic meets the lagoon. He still paddles out before the shop opens when the wind is light, and he still tells people to sit out a day that looks meaner than it photographs.
The shop is family owned. His sister keeps the desk, the coffee, and the list of which beach houses need a paddleboard on the stairs. Gear gets a freshwater rinse every night. If a board is tired, it stays off the rack.
Two blocks from the sand. Not a chain. That red lighthouse you see up the beach is the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, just north across the inlet. We are two blocks off the Atlantic on the New Smyrna side.

Can I learn in one day?
Most people who can swim stand up on a soft-top in a single 90-minute lesson when the waves are small. You will not be charging the peak. That is the point of day one.
What if the Atlantic is flat?
We move the lesson onto the Indian River Lagoon, or we pick another morning. A flat day does not eat the booking.
What is the cancellation policy?
Demo policy: cancel or move a booking by the evening before and we hold your spot for another day. If the ocean is the reason we call it off the same morning, that is on us.
Do I need to know how to swim?
Yes for anything in the Atlantic. Lagoon tours are calm, and we still want you comfortable in the water with a life vest on if you ask for one.
